Land Rig Installing Simulator

Land rig install simulation and training system simulates the install process of land rig, and the operations of rig.

Main functions:

1. Demonstrate the install process of land rig in ultra HD animation.

2. Evolve students in the install process of land rig through double touch screen.

3. Demonstrate land rig components and internal structure of important parts in electronic book.

4. By operating Diller’s top drive console and main parameter control software, students are trained to manipulate rig in the drilling process which is displayed in virtual reality graphics. Students are trained to operate tripping in and out, and dispose accidents in drilling.

5. By operating the hydraulic buffering console, the 1:25 derrick model and parameter control software, students are trained to lift and lower derrick pedestal as well as related procedures, which is displayed in virtual reality graphics.

Drilling Control Console

    The Drilling Control Console is designed from the prototype of 70D rig. It provides supervisions on draw-works up and down, rotary speed, mud pump speed regulation, diesel power, and pump power. It also displays data like weight on bit, rotary speed, standpipe pressure, rotary torque, drilling fluid density in, drilling fluid density out, volume in, volume out, rig air supply pressure, accumulator pressure, well depth, bit position, hook height, kelly down depth, footage, drilling time, drilling speed, drill pipe speed, well bottom pressure, formation pressure.

Controllable derrick model

    The controllable derrick model is constructed according to 70D rig with ratio 1:25. Students can lift and lower derrick and the pedestal by controlling the model through its sensors and motor. The lifting and lowering speed is controlled by students. The model is paused when the derrick is lifted or lowered completely.

Instructor Console and Graphics Processing Unit

    The Instructor Console is made up of a high performance computer. Its main functions includes running main program, storing and setting simulation parameters, graphics control, computing and plotting parameter curves, and recording and summarizing scores. The Graphics Processing Unit consists of a high performance computer and a special graphics accelerator and is connected to main computer by Ethernet. It displays static background graphics, controlled dynamic graphics, auto animation and recording curves.

Graphics Projecting Unit

    Graphics are projected onto wall in displaying field scenery. Two kinds of Graphics Projecting Unit are available. One is ordinary projecting unit. It features low price but less attractive environment. The other applies virtual reality technology in Drilling Simulator.

The system includes 5 software:

1. Rig install animation software,

2. Rig virtual assembly software,

3. Rig electronic book software,

4. Drilling simulation and training software,

5. Derrick lifting and lowering simulation and training software.
